CPBS Council Meeting Report

The CPBS Council met last night in the Westwood House Hotel. Linear Scoring tutor Michael Kirwan gave an interesting presentation on the use of linear scoring. A panel of twelve inspectors will be trained in Linear Scoring this Autumn and it is hoped to have the scoring system in place for the 2016 inspections. Michael Kirwan, Philip Scott and Jack Doyle will conduct the training.
The Marketing committee will produce a short promotional video on the Connemara pony which will be used online. It was agreed that the Family Working Hunter competition will take place on Tuesday evening of show week. Class two and Class three ponies will be eligible to compete in all performance and ridden classes at the Connemara Pony Show including Thursday. Stallions aged three and over must be in Class one and Mares aged two and over must be in Class One for in-hand classes.
An extra loose jumping qualifier for three year olds has been added. It will take place in Duffy’s Equestrian Centre, Claregalway on the 22nd July. The other qualifier will be held at the Midlands Show in Mullingar on Sunday 26th July.
Funding has been secured from the Department of Agriculture to carry out a scientific study on the prevalence of HWSD in Connemara ponies in Ireland. The findings and results of this study will be presented at our Education Conference in December.
